I don't know if you've noticed it, but the weather is unseasonably mild at the moment. I always use Guy Fawkes night as my yardstick to determine when the cold weather really begins. I normally associate watching a fireworks display with chilly and often wet weather, but not this year. Normally in November, we don't usually have too many days that are warm enough to shed a coat and enjoy the sun. But today was one of those where I went out for a coffee with my husband and we drank it sitting outside. So much more civilised than huddling in doors. I'm not a great advocate of the global warming theory, but after our record breaking October, it does start to make you wonder.
Also, enjoying a few hours in the sunshine makes you realise just how much you miss it and how dreary and depressing a British winter can be. It's also interesting to see the kids out enjoying a bit of decent weather. The bottom line is that all of us need time in the sun. If everyone took some time out to play and have fun, we'd probably all handle the stresses and strains of modern day living a lot better. Kids seem to have worked it all out - when energy builds up, it is time to play.
So, when you come across lovely weather, how do you celebrate it? Do you head to the park (or the coffee shop)? Do you go for a walk? Ride around town on your bike? Keeping active and enjoying the sun while we have it, even on these cooler days, will help us all to get through this coming winter and reduce those stress levels.
